This is tried and true. And hey, check the reviews! People love it, and for good reason. It is low, agile, and just a ton of fun. In fact, you may have a Trip already! And if you do, it’s probably the most ridden board you own. So all this talk about the Trip, and you say, well what the heck is a Pranayama for then? And that’s actually an easy question for us to answer.

Despite being as clear as humanly possible that we felt the Trip would and should be optimized with RKP trucks, people were putting TKP trucks on it! Shops were doing it, too. And look, I get it. It’s bite free, hassle free setup that you can put a wider range of wheels on. But it’s not optimized–certainly not up to our standard–and some of the customer feedback we have received with that specific setup corroborated our feelings on it. It had less control than we were used to with the RKP trucks, too much flex, and it bottomed out easily, and it was especially unstable at speed, even while the Ember deck, which also sports TKPs, felt fine at fairly high speeds for us. But one thing really stuck with us with that setup. It was SO LOW and SMOOTH. Like it really made pushing feel effortless. I could stand on that board, one foot on the ground and the other on the board, both knees locked with just my hips a little offset. The setup really inspired, and even though it wasn’t what we felt it should be, it got us thinking about what it COULD BE.

In the end, we took everything we learned from our other double drop built for TKP trucks, the Ember Mini Commuter Longboard, and we optimized our Trip platform for an even tighter fit than the Ember to really bring the Pranayama to life with maximized control on the lowest available platform. The tighter wheelbase and shorter neck reduce the flex to enhance control and reduce the flex in the neck that causes bottoming out on such a low platform. What we get is an incredibly tight racecar of a deck, truly built around and optimized for TKP trucks with 85mm wheels. We don’t recommend anything else on it. Anything smaller would be a waste of such closely optimized wheel cutouts and potentially too low, and anything larger will bite. But you put it together like this and you have a ride that is going to be hard to get off of. And that’s the whole point. The Pranayama is really centered around pure ease of push. We expect it to be popular for ultra long distances, beginner skateboarders, and people looking to use a skateboard for exercise.

Setup Advice

The Pranayama is truly optimized on Paris 149mm trucks and your choice of any color and durometer (softness) of either the 85mm Seismic Speed Vents OR the 85mm Orangatang Caguama wheels. Paris are notoriously high TKP trucks, so if you want a lower setup, you can try a classic Independent 149mm as well, but really, we love the turn on Paris so much that if wanted it to be lower, we would just pick a slightly smaller wheels like the Orangatang 80mm Kegel or the new 80.5mm Seismic Alpha, or put a little drop through riser on the board. We do feel, though, that most will appreciate the stock height and feel of the suggested setups. It is unlikely that it can get any better, but we will pay attention to reviews and our own experiences and modify this section if necessary.

Specs:

Length – 31.375 inches
Wheelbase – 26 inches
Width – 9.25 inches
Drop – 1.3 inch crescent
Profile – Slight Mustache Camber/Rocker
Construction – 9 ply maple

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0220/0172/products/pantheon-pranayama-longboard-skateboard-deck-443873.jpg?v=1616018632
pantheon-tandava-longboard-deck
Pantheon: Tandava 2 Longboard Deck

The Pantheon Tandava is a mid-sized dancer longboard featuring clean lines, a comfortable platform and flex, and a flowing shape that assists in its durability. Many boards get beefed up around the rails at one of the “hot spots” around the deck, often near the wheel well. This is because designers are shaping the decks in such a way that the board has specific spots that it tends to land on over and over and over again–almost like a “swell-bow” on your arm just sticks out and just can’t help but to be landed on every time you go down. The Tandava is a dancer longboard that was built from the ground up, with a mold that specifically works with the shape to avoid these hot spots, so that the board can wear more evenly over time.

Combine our carefully shaped longboard dancing platform with a hard Canadian maple core protected by fiberglass and our curly “Black Root” veneer, and you’ve got a heck of a strong board that will outlast many of its competitors without going over the top in more costly construction techniques. Consider the Quest a sort of jack-of-all-trades distance board. Uphills, downhills, high speeds and cruising will all be comfortable on this thing. And while the Nexus is equally as much a downhill and freeride board, the Quest truly focuses on distance in particular, highlighting the thinner overall profile for ergonomic, efficient pushing, with larger cutouts that will support a slightly slimmer truck setup.

The Quest is a fairly beefy but slim package. It will manage heavy weights up to about 250 pounds (has been tested up to 300 lbs with success, but we usually like recommending the even beefier Nexus over 250), while still providing a light dampening flex for riders down to about 150 pounds. The unidirectional shape of the Quest subconsciously pushes you forward, and its low, long, fairly stiff platform adds stability at speed compared to other Pantheon pushers like the Trip and Pranayama. It is slightly longer than the Nexus overall, but only because of the closed off nose and tail truck mounting area. Otherwise, the Quest has a 1-inch shorter wheelbase, and this actually translates into being able to stand slightly closer to the trucks and to reduce the amount of foot pressure you’ll be putting into the drops, which makes this a less aggressive board. The Nexus is stiffer and wider than the Quest and really should be considered for riders who intend on using the Nexus for sliding, where you’ll be actively using the drops to push the board around and control slides, as opposed to the drops simply just lowering the platform for easy pushing, foot braking, and added stability, like they do here on the Quest.

When setting up the Quest, we mostly recommend this board with 150mm RKP trucks and large, slim wheels like the 85mm Seismic Speed Vents. If you want the grippier, wider 85mm Orangatang Caguamas, you’ll have to size up to 165mm. Most riders will opt for the 50-degree setups in both front and back, but if you really want an extra stable setup, put a 43-degree in the rear. This will give comfort at speed, and some riders just generally prefer stability for pushing. Keep in mind that this will reduce agility when compared to the standard 50-50 setup.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0220/0172/products/pantheon-quest-longboard-skateboard-deck-901877.png?v=1685176300
pantheon-trip-longboard-skateboard-deck
Pantheon: Trip Longboard Skateboard Deck

The Pantheon Trip is back with a sexy new graphic, unique applewood veneer, and a lighter weight design construction. Riders don’t necessarily have to recognize these features; the board just has to feel good! But we are going to tell you what they are, because they’re cool and unique.

First, we flared the front wheel wells and combined the flare with a crescent drop so that there’s plenty of wheel clearance despite this deck having a 3/8″ micro drop, which is quite rare. Furthermore, we brought in the truck mounting area really tightly into the drop with an angled flush mount to the tune of a positive 3 degrees. This angled flush gives the board some directionality and also uniquely fixes the issue of the deck potentially having a weak spot in this area, because the angled flush actually takes less plies away. We also 3D shaped the wheel wells so that they’re thinnest toward the edges of the board, where the bite would form, and there’s a little more meat near the flush mount. We’ve seen decks break by combining deep flush with deep 2-dimensionally projected wheel wells, and this was our answer to that problem. Chase has absolutely manhandled these boards, and they’re staying strong.

Next, we added a unique mustache rocker design. Because the deck’s platform is quite tight (we’re fitting everything into a 22.75″ wheelbase between two microdrops, after all), it has pretty obvious positions where your feet will go. Separating with a funky camber in the center with microdrops on either side is like sticking your feet into bindings. You are going to be really locked in on this board!

Something that we did that was really interesting with this board that riders may never notice is how we draw the W-concave out of the peak of the camber in the center. The rear foot platform drops down out of the center camber, and as that “bucket’ drops down, the rear W concave forms by keeping the peak height of the camber uniform. The end result is that the W-concave, although clearly formed in the back of the board, seems to sort of appear out of nowhere. Some riders might just say, “cool,” and leave it at that. But for riders pushing mongo-style off the line (rear foot is balance foot), this uniformity in the center is far less awkward than most W-concaves, which can really throw riders off balance at times. So there actually is some functional design element here!

The side rails of the Chaisy look super wild, but not only do they look cool, they also increase concave where it is useful, and decrease concave where it is useful to have lower concave. So your rear toe has a functional drop to push on, a W-concave, and also a flatter rail on the toe side, which all meld together into a platform that keeps your foot really solid and your board under control. This is the same for the front, but opposite. Your front outside of your foot will be locked in on the backside of a curved drop, the inside of your forefoot has plenty of concave for toe side turning leverage, and the heel concave drops down into something a little more mellow and comfortable, so that when you’re making those heel side turns and slides, you’re making full contact with the board and your foot is staying put.

Finally, the whole rear end swoops up into a kicktail. Yes, you have a functional, ollieable kicktail on this race-worthy board. We recommend setting up the rear first, to decide where you want the ball of the foot to fall in relation to the rear trucks. Some riders will want to be nearly on top of them and will use the inside mounting holes. Some will want a little more space. The ball of the foot falls in the tail crease right to the side of the W-bubble and the rest of the foot will lay back into the tail when in tuck. Plan your stance in the board around this space, and once you have your rear set up, you can set up the front in accordance with the size of your tuck and how close you want to be to the trucks, whether right on top or a little behind. This deck will feel immediately like home if you set it up around your stance in this way. This shape was built to maximize current Pantheon distance boards to their full potential and to our deck’s tolerances, fitting streamline with our Pranayama and Trip and providing speed and vice-like grip on the Supersonic during pumping.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0220/0172/files/pantheon-fantail-cruiser-longboard-deck-319544.png?v=1735448230
pantheon-102mm-hoku-longboard-wheels
Pantheon: 102mm 74a Hoku Longboard Wheels
Diameter: 102mm
Width: 56mm
Contact Patch: 52mm
Weight: 326g each

Pantheon Hoku wheels are a product of working directly with one of the world’s best competitive distance skateboarders, Adam Ornelles. Adam helped us hone the 92mm Karma wheel, but even though he loves those wheels, he still wants to compete in races on even larger wheels, and that’s when the 102mm Hoku Wheels come into play.

No expense was spared making these wheels the absolute jammy jam. We tested multiple shapes and molds. We were proven wrong on certain theories and truly honed this wheel shape through experience. A deeper flex channel on the inside lip provides extra edge flex needed for this larger diameter. A relatively small 52mm contact patch both keeps the weight down while also providing consistent grip that can be counted on. We actually did test wider contact patches and found that while we could get slightly more maximum grip out of certain widths, it made the wheel less predictable and it would release grip unexpectedly, while this 52mm contact patch was consistent and felt more comfortable and trustable when pushed to its limits. It doesn’t hurt that the smaller CP drops a few grams either!

The Hoku are the lightest wheels in their size category, featuring our 55mm lightweight custom core and just the right amount of urethane and in the right shape to get the job done. Although they are light for their size, they’re still quite hefty unless you’re used to riding wheels this large! Choose the Hoku when weight and ride height is less important than maximum roll speed over less than perfect pavement and extended momentum. The large diameter will even out road bumps and debris, and at 10mm larger than our 92mm Karma wheels, they will increase the ride height by 5mm. Featuring an extremely low ride height, lightweight design, comfortable flex, slim profile, and perfectly fitted components, this longboard stands above all others in ease of use and fit. This board is made for your body, and it’s made for this setup. Large 85mm wheels will roll over just about anything in your path, and slim 149mm trucks create an overall thin profile that allows riders to keep their center of gravity closer to their push foot, resulting in greater balance and power. The lowest of low standing platforms allows for easier foot pushing and effortless foot braking. The classic 50/50 setup will be the most wheelbite avoidant, and the 40/40 or 43/43 setup will be a bit more stable at speed.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0220/0172/files/pantheon-kenny-napp-pro-longboard-deck-257773.png?v=1735448238
pantheon-sacrifice-longboard-skateboard-deck
Pantheon: Sacrifice Longboard Skateboard Deck

SPECS

Length: 35.3″
Width: 9.17″ front bolts, 9.12″ back bolts, 9.7″ max width
Wheelbase: 24.5″ – 26″

CONCAVE

The concave on the Sacrifice pays homage to the Sacrifice of old while modernizing to Pantheon’s 2024 standards. Like all of our products, we didn’t want to design this board without being sure of how to improve it. Simply re-making the old design felt like it would be missing a growth element, so we waited for inspiration. The 2024 Sacrifice takes the bones of the previous model, smooths out all the curves, and takes a great feeling board and makes it sexy. We actually did test wider contact patches and found that while we could get slightly more maximum grip out of certain widths, it made the wheel less predictable and it would release grip unexpectedly, while this 52mm contact patch was consistent and felt more comfortable and trustable when pushed to its limits. But the being’s oversoul, which is connected to the overarching reality, has a grander view of a field and sunset, capturing the true beauty of the being’s reality. Often times, we are stuck in our own respective struggles, caught in each moment. A slightly tapered waist complements the camber profile for a subtle suspension effect. The open-ended nose and tail provide flexural relief, protection against impact damage, and ease of assembly. Neutral truck mounting angles simplify setup while offering a versatile starting point for customization.

CURVACEOUS CONFIDENCE – Pantheon’s highly functional crescent drop lowers the center of gravity and stiffens the drops for efficient pushing while also providing enhanced lateral support and general ergonomics. The drop also allows for effortless slide initiation to control speed in common settings like hilly urban environments or paths and trails. Mustache rocker profile combines subtle camber at the deck’s midpoint with rocker under the feet. The localized camber pairs with the slightly tapered waist to provide suspension characteristics while allowing the rest of the board to remain stiff for optimum control. Mellow radial concave provides an ideal balance of edge control and riding comfort. The junctions between concave and crescent drop create three-dimensional pockets for secure and intuitive ergonomics.

SNAPPY, LIGHT, & LOW – The Trip is a low riding steeze machine that is efficient and effective for all of your commuting and distance riding needs. A 6-ply maple core is sandwiched between layers of triaxial fiberglass with a protective wood veneer on the bottom so that you don’t scratch that structural composite layer on curbs. This layup results in a thin, stiff, and lightweight structure with snappy, responsive flex characteristics. Combine with large, soft wheels, and you’ve got an absolute cruising machine that will suck up road vibrations and keep you going all day long.

GRAPHICS – The “Fields” and “Indian Hills” graphics are designed by Eddie Kihm. How do you choose between them all? Let’s do a quick rundown:

Trip Fields – Choose this classic construction Trip if you value a competent deck and appreciate natural materials. The classic construction has stood the test of time and features an applewood veneer on the bottom that acts as a sacrificial layer, protecting the triaxial fiberglass underneath so that the structure of the board remains intact despite scapes and wear on the bottom layer. The top of the board feature black dyed triaxial fiberglass and 80-grit griptape.

Carbon Trip – Riders often ask about the difference between the Carbon Trip and the classic construction. Truth be told, unless you had both decks side by side, you would probably never know the difference. The carbon does not add significant strength. It adds a very small amount of pop to the flex that only the most discerning riders may notice. Most of all, carbon just looks awesome, and people really appreciate it for its beauty. The deck still features black dyed triaxial fiberglass on top and bottom just underneath that bottom carbon layer, just like the classic construction.

Pre-Preg Whale – The Whale Trip is our newest construction that we first tested en masse with the Portal Pranayama. Pre-preg fiberglass on both top and bottom act as a protective structural shell, much like the applewood veneer of the Fields Trip, except that the pre-preg glass is actually quite structural. The deck features additional wet-laid triaxial fiberglass underneath both the top and bottom layers. This construction has proven to be our most durable ever. And the added structural composite material allows us to reduce a maple core ply for a little added flex in the body of the board without reducing strength. This construction is our “Light” flex, and then when we add back in the extra ply, this board becomes our “Heavy” flex, which is good for most riders up to about 260 lbs or so (ultimately a product of riding style and conditions, but we feel good about that 260 lb recommendation, and you may be able to push it a little). The Light flex has been tested up to 195 lbs at length. Riders of that weight will likely prefer the heavy flex for its stability, but the Light flex board is strong enough to take the weight.
