How To: Add Footstops and Pockets to Your Longboard Deck
Check out this short and sweet video from Nate on how to make your own bushing footstop and how to use griptape to create landmarks on your longboard’s standing platform. These are two super simple ways to customize your topmount deck so you can quickly find correct foot placement and stay locked in no matter how fast and gnarly you ride. You can order one here.
To build your own bushing footstop, you’ll need:
- 1 2.5″ bolt
- 1 nut
- 2 small flat washers
- 1 large cupped washer
- 1 old cone bushing
The reason for using two small washers instead of one is just for reinforcement- the small washers are pretty thin and tend to bend easily, so two just ‘sturdifies’ things.
If you can’t find all the ingredients to build footstop lying around at home, be sure to look between the couch cushions. If you’re still coming up empty-handed, you can order a bushing footstop kit from motion that includes everything you need to put together your own bushing footstop.
